Some residents were said to be left sitting in soiled clothing, while others had wounds that got infected due to a lack of care. Although not required, we encourage all visitors to vaccinate for COVID-19 to enjoy a safe and risk free visit with your loved ones. Please speak with our staff about COVID-19 vaccines. Please note that the current open visitation policy may change based on updated guidance from CMS and/or NYSDOH or based on COVID-19 outbreak protocols, in case of a facility COVID-19 outbreak. Thank you and looking forward to greeting you soon. Nursing homes provide short-and long-term care for seniors who have physical or mental health conditions that require 24-hour nursing and personal care.
The facility is run down and simply not up to standards. The residents smell as if they are not changed or bathed properly. Every visit to my grandmother's room and I have to request her be changed and bathed. A entertainment room that live musicians play in and the residents can play bingo. Also, there is a beauty center to give hairstyles and manicures to residents. I simply love seeing the smiles the staff puts on my grandmother's face but the hygiene there is terrible.

As a result of the fraud, residents were neglected and endangered. Family members of residents reported unclean facilities and broken critical care equipment such as wheelchairs and showers. Residents were routinely neglected, suffered improper wound care, and were not provided adequate nutrition, medication or sanitation, according to the press release. O For visitors who visit multiple days per week, including a visitor who comes every day, proof of negative testing is required as often as possible – at a minimum every 3 days.

And the last straw was a rude employee hung up on my Mom when she was trying to find out where my Grandmother's clothes were. My Mom called me in tears, so we will be bringing her home for rehab. Please think twice before taking your loved one there.

I have tried looking into better nursing homes, but the Brian Center is all my money will allow me to budget. All in all the Brian Center will do if you stay on top of things. I love helping improve facilities for the old and disabled. My cousin was in this facility for rehab for 30 days. She has congestive heart failure and was very weak.

Rather than LPN's on the halls they are mostly staffed with Med Techs who have little or no knowledge of the patients. New ones show up daily and can rarely answer questions about patient status when asked. A facility that is responsible for the health and well being of patients should not be focused on profit but on quality patient care.

My grandmother enjoys the place for the most part but is, like most patients, ready to go home. She has lived at the Brian Center for about a year without incident. She seems to enjoy the food for the most part and when she does not like the food, I believe that they provide alternatives. I would definitely give the Brian Center 5 stars if they were able to update their facility. Overall, I would say that the Brian Center is a relatively good place for family members to stay.
Nursing Home Reviews for Brian Center Nursing Care - St Andrews
We had growing concerns regarding my sisters care and overall well being. Per the family's request, my sister was presented to her primary care physician for a physical. After examining her, the physician made a report to Adult Protective Services. My sister was malnourished, dehydrated, had a severe UTI, an eye infection in both eyes, bed sores and was not able to stand because of excruciating pain caused by extended immobility.

At this point, they wouldn't let us in to see her, so She demanded that they call an ambulance ant take her to the ER. They begged her to give them 3 days to get the water retention resolved and they started to give her the diuretic. My cousin was supposed to be there 90 days for the much needed physical therapy but we got her out just shy of 30 days because of the way they were treating her. Once we got her home she got very sick and we had to take her to the ER a day after we got her home. Turns out she had picked up a UTI in the Brian center from sitting in her own urine for so long and not being bathed regularly. The infection was so bad that it had gotten into her bloodstream and she went septic.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services does their best to provide a fair assessment of every Nursing Home, but please note these ratings are a snapshot in time. Please note that the pricing above is the average billed to Medicare. (Supplemental Insurance / Medicare Advantage Plans, single or double rooms, etc). If you are interested in this facility you should contact The Brian Center directly for exact pricing and what options are available for you or your loved one's personal care needs.
In the past 8 months the staffing has dramatically changed for the worse. Prior to the current director the facility was adequately staffed with competent nurses and administrative staff. The new director treats the staff badly and there has been a significant turnover and staffing reductions. Thus the quality of care has dramatically declined to an unacceptable level.
